Technology Support

The San Mateo-Foster City School District has technology resources available for all students. This included Chromebooks for each student, Hotspots to provide access to the internet, and issuing replacements.

The district has Community Services Specialist that can assist with set up for at home learning interventions like Footsteps2Brilliance or ST Math. In addition, they can assist with mobile HotSpot replacement, or issuing a new Chromebook.

Password Security

 

Maintaining your account's security and keeping your password safe is essential to protecting your personal information and preventing unauthorized access. A strong, unique password helps safeguard sensitive data from cyber threats like hacking and identity theft. Regularly updating your password, enabling multi-factor authentication, and avoiding sharing login credentials can significantly enhance security.

Aeries Hosted Migration Project FAQ

Q1 1. What will change for me?
A1. Other than the URL (the link that you use to visit SMFCSD’s Aeries portal) everything else will remain the same (username, password, etc.)

Q2. Do I have to set up a new account?
A2. No. If you already have an existing account it will be transferred over. The password will also remain the same.

Q3. Why is this change being made?
A3. One of our goals is to improve access to this information and increase data security. Migrating to Aeries’ data center will improve the system’s uptime and increase security.

Q4. Does the URL work only within the District?
A4. The new URLs will work anywhere

Q5. What are important dates to know?
A5. Migration begins March 31 and continues until April 6.
Cutover is on April 7

Data Migration for 8th Grade Students

To our graduating 8th grade students, congratulations on your promotion to high school.

Here are some instructions on how you can migrate your District Google account data to a personal account so that you can take it with you to your next district. These steps must be completed before accounts are disabled on July 31st. Accounts are disabled through an automated process.

  1. Sign into your District Google account and visit this web page: https://takeout.google.com/
  2. Select the data you would like to migrate
  3. Select the destination and format for your data export

This process can take a long time (possibly hours or days depending on the amount of data) to complete. You'll receive an email when your export is done.
