Meet Our Counselors

Meet the amazing and dedicated Abbott Middle School wellness team! Students can reach out to their counselors for questions, guidance, and support.

School psychologists may provide support and consultation to teachers and parents of students experiencing learning and/or behavior problems. Students with an Individual Education Program who exhibit the need for a higher level of care may be recommended to receive Educationally-Related Mental Health Services. Susana Diaz (A-F) Ms. Diaz earned her Bachelor Degree at San Francisco State University in Psychology. A few years later she attended University of San Francisco and earned her Master's in Counseling Psychology. She also possesses a certificate in College Counseling through San Diego State Extended Learning. She enjoys supporting youth through all the different educational endeavors. She is new to San Mateo Foster City and looks forward to bringing her experience of 25 years from San Francisco to Abbott Middle School. She was born and raised in San Francisco. Elena Robles (G-N) Ms. Robles earned her Bachelor's Degree from the University of San Francisco with a Minor in Child and Youth Studies. She earned her Masters in School Counseling from the University of San Francisco. Ms. Robles has an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education from Skyline Community College. She has been working with students from different grade levels and heritages, navigating them through different stages in their lives. This leads to having students prepare for what may lay ahead of them, both academically and on a social emotional level. Rebecca Edelman (O-Z)  Ms. Edelman enjoys working with students of all ages and backgrounds. She draws her counseling practice from over 30 years in the education field, including extensive experience as a teacher and academic coach. She enjoys learning about students’ passions to guide academic planning and college/career choice. She also practices reflective solutions-focused counseling to help students with social emotional concerns. She holds a BA in Middle Eastern Studies, a CA multiple subject teaching credential, MS in Education and MS in School Counseling.
